SCORING OPERATOR #1
  • Keep track of Score Strips.
  • Listen on Start/Finish communications channel for next Bib Number to start.
  • Locate the corresponding Score Strip and pass it to Scoring Operator #2.

  • SCORING OPERATOR #2
  • Check that assigned Gate Judges are at their stations at the beginning of the session.
  • Let Chief Scoring Operator know when there's full coverage.
  • Communicate with the Upstream Gate Judging Stations and record gate penalties on Score Strips.
  • Manage the communications channel to keep chatter to a minimum.
  • Hand completed Score Strips to Scoring Operator #3.
  • Release Gate Judges upon authorization of the Race Chairman or Cheif of Scoring at the end of the assignment session.

  • SCORING OPERATOR #3
  • Check that assigned Gate Judges are at their stations at the beginning of the session.
  • Let the Chief Scoring Operator know when there's full coverage.
  • Communicate with the Downstream Gate Judging Stations and record gate penalties on Score Strips.
  • Manage the communications channel to keep chatter to a minimum.
  • Hand completed Score Strips to Chief Scoring Operator.
  • Release Gate Judges upon authorization of the Race Chairman or the Chief of Scoring at the end of the assignment session.

  • CHIEF SCORING OPERATOR
  • When Start and Finish have established communications, have Finish run a 'dummy' start to verify procedures.
  • At the beginning of the session, after Scoring Operators #2 & #3 have indicated all Judging Stations are fully covered, check that Start and Finish assignees are present, then let Finish know that all station are covered and that Finish is in control of the race and may start the first boat of the session.
  • Communicate with Finish and record Raw Times on the Score Strips, add penalties & record totals, and add penalty totals to raw times & record total scores on Score Strips.
  • If Finish is maintaining an Auxiliary Score Board in the Finish Area, report the penalty totals to Finish by bib number.
  • Once the Raw Times have been recorded, Scoring Operator #1 can help out with adding penalties & recording the totals as well as adding the penalty totals to the Raw Times and recording total score on the Score Strips if Chief Scoring Operator gets backed up.
  • Hand completed Score Strips to the person assigned to post the Score Strips on the Score Board.
  • Release Start & Finish assignees upon authorization of the Race Chairman or the Chief of Scoring at the end of the assignment session.
