SCORE BOARD POSTING
  • Take Score Strips that are completed and post then on the Score Board keeping classes together.
  • As complete classes are on the Score Board, place them in ranked order.
  • Remove all Score Strips after first runs are completed and return them to Scoring Operator #1 sorted in bib order.

  • START OPERATOR
  • Communicate with Finish and give the next Bib number ready to start.
  • Confirm a "good start" for each boat that starts for the Finish Operator.
  • Regulate the interval between boats, keeping in mind boat type and paddler skills.
  • Operate the Start radio and insure paddlers in Start can hear the "start countdown".

  • START BOAT MARSHAL
  • Hold the boats in the Start Gate.
  • Marshal boats into a Start Order.
  • Use a Bull Horn to marshal Cruisers into groups to go through the course periodically with minimum disruption to the race.

  • FINISH OPERATOR #1
  • Communicate with Start to get the Bib number of the next boat ready to start.
  • Keep a written record of the bib number, timing device and time for each boat.
  • Count down each start on the radio and start the timing device or stop watch for each competitor.
  • Communicate the bib number and time for each boat to Scoring by radio.

  • Finish Operator #2
  • Identify the next boat that is about to finish by bib number.
  • Stop the appropriate timing device, as each boat crosses the finish line and bring it to the attention of Operator #1.

  • FINISH BOAT MARSHAL
  • Spot the bib number of boats approaching the finish area and alert Finish Operator #2.
  • Marshal competitors and cruisers to be sure they stay downstream of the finish line.
  • Ensure that there are the appropriate number of safety boats just downstream of the finish line at all times.
